Taking vitamin D:

The first most important vitamin is the vitamin D you need to intake during the pregnancy. During the pregnancy, vitamin D is important for the growth of the baby especially in the first few months of his/her life. Iron is again a very important vitamin for the pregnant women. If they don’t fulfill the iron requirement during the pregnancy, the baby might catch the disease of Anemia. It exists in the leafy green vegetables, nuts and other dried fruits. During the pregnancy, you should make your proper health diet, in which you need to add nuts and dried fruits.

Vitamin C is important during the pregnancy, because it guards cells of the baby and helps in order to keep them fit. Vitamin C can be obtained from a balanced diet, which contains fruit and vegetables, including citrus fruits, broccoli, tomatoes, and blackcurrants. Bell peppers can all endow with vitamin C as your requirement during the pregnancy.


Calcium is very important for making your baby’s bones and teeth during the pregnancy. It can be obtained from the dairy products and fish with edible bones. Besides baby, it is also very important for the mother’s health during the delivery.

Folic Acid:

This is the most important and indispensible vitamin during pregnancy. The reason behind its importance is that it is always helpful in order to prevent any type of birth defects especially related to the neural tubes such as Spina Bifida. The normal requirement of folic acid on every day is 400 microgram in a while. You should start taking folic acid as soon as you get pregnant.

Besides the advantages of every vitamin, one thing you should be kept in mind is that there are certain things which can be harmful for you during the pregnancy. Most of the people seem to be unaware of such vitamins also. One of them is vitamin A. Vitamin A supplements or any of the other supplements which contain vitamin A could be detrimental for your baby. So, always avoid by taking vitamin A during the pregnancy. Always use the prescribe supplements from your pregnancy doctor. If you are also taking any multivitamin tablet, make sure one thing that it does not contain any substitute of vitamin A.
